Preparation

- Temperature: 350 °F
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Mix ground flaxseed with water in a small bowl and let thicken 5-10 minutes (flax egg)
- In a large bowl, whisk together melted vegan butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Stir in flax egg and vanilla extract.
- Sift in flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Stir until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth top.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs. Do not overbake.
- Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing into squares.
