1 tsp Olive Oil
2 tbsp Onions, white or yellow, raw, chopped
2 cups 1 tbsp 1 tsp Tomatoes, red, canned, in tomato juice, no salt added
2  (ea. 0.11 oz) Garlic, raw
1 pinch Salt, Kosher salt, table salt
1 pinch Pepper, black, ground

Preparation

  1. Serving size:

  1. In a pot over medium heat, saute the chopped onion until it is translucent, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Add the tomatoes, cover with a lid and bring to a simmer.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and let simmer for about 20 minutes.
  4. Add the minced garlic and blend with an immersion blender or a food processor.
  5. Continue to simmer, at least 20 minutes. The taste is even better if you let it simmer for a couple of hours.
  6. Season to taste.

  8. You can easily store this sauce in an airtight container for 5 days, or freeze it for up to 6 months. For best results, thaw overnight. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop.
