Preparation

  1. Serving size:
    10.50 oz (calculated)
  2. Temperature: 392 °F
  1. Prepare the spaetzle. If buying premade spätzle, use 500 g of fresh spätzle for 4 servings.
  2. Melt the butter in an oven-safe pan. Alternatively, you can transfer the spätzle to a baking dish later.
  3. Add the chopped onions and sauté it until it turns translucent.
  4. Add the spätzle, cream and pepper and bring to a boil.
  5. Turn of the heat and stir in half the cheese.
  6. Optionally transfer everything to a baking dish.
  7. Top with the remaining cheese and bake for about 20 minutes or until golden-brown.
  8. You can enjoy Käsespätzle both as a side dish or a main meal. It is often topped with fried onions.
