Preparation

  1. Serving size:
    0.34 oz (calculated)
    1 tbsp (by recipe creator)
  1. Lightly toast the sesame seeds in a dry pan on medium heat. Stir continuously until the seeds become fragrant (after about 3 or 4 minutes). The seeds should only slightly darken, not turn brown.
  2. Let the seeds cool on a plate or baking sheet to avoid them from burning.
  3. Once completely cooled down, add the seeds to a food processor and blend for about 1 minute. The seeds should turn into a crumbly paste.
  4. Add the oil bit by bit, blending until you reach the desired consistency. Be sure to scrape down the sides a couple of times. This should take no more than 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Tahini should be smooth and pourable. You can safely store it an air-tight container in the fridge for a month.
  6. If the oil separates over time, simply stir the tahini before using it.
