Preparation

  1. Serving size:
    4.70 oz (calculated)
    Notes: half a bacon crust pizza
  2. Temperature: 400 °F (preheated, circulating air)

    Weaving the bacon

  1. Lay half of the bacon strips lengthwise next to each other. Depending on the size of your strips, you'll need about 12 to 16 strips.
  2. Along the edges of the bacon strips, lay one strip of bacon crosswise.
  3. Now fold back every second lengthwise laying strip and add the second strip crosswise.
  4. Lay flat the folded back strips again and fold back the other strips.
  5. Continue until you have used up all the bacon strips.
  6. Interweave the first bacon strip similarly.
  7. Top with another layer of parchment paper and cover with another baking tray to weigh down the bacon. Like this is will stay flat while baking.
  8. Alternatively, top with an inverted cooling rack.
  9. Bake until the bacon is crisp, about half an hour. The crust will shrink visibly.
  10. Remove from the oven and drain the excess fat. You can set it aside and use it for cooking other dishes.
  11. Finishing the pizza

  12. Top the bacon with pizza sauce, cheese and your favorite toppings.
  13. Bake or broil until the cheese is melted and nicely browned.
  14. Enjoy!
