Preparation
- Serving size:4.70 oz (calculated)Notes: half a bacon crust pizza
- Temperature: 400 °F (preheated, circulating air)
- Lay half of the bacon strips lengthwise next to each other. Depending on the size of your strips, you'll need about 12 to 16 strips.
- Along the edges of the bacon strips, lay one strip of bacon crosswise.
- Now fold back every second lengthwise laying strip and add the second strip crosswise.
- Lay flat the folded back strips again and fold back the other strips.
- Continue until you have used up all the bacon strips.
- Interweave the first bacon strip similarly.
- Top with another layer of parchment paper and cover with another baking tray to weigh down the bacon. Like this is will stay flat while baking.
- Alternatively, top with an inverted cooling rack.
- Bake until the bacon is crisp, about half an hour. The crust will shrink visibly.
- Remove from the oven and drain the excess fat. You can set it aside and use it for cooking other dishes.
- Top the bacon with pizza sauce, cheese and your favorite toppings.
- Bake or broil until the cheese is melted and nicely browned.
