Preparation

  1. Serving size:
    0.45 oz (by recipe creator)

  1. Put the beef suet in a pot, cover it and let it render over a low heat.
  2. Depending on how much suet you are rendering, this may take several hours. When we rendered 1 kg it took about 6 hours.
  3. Strain the tallow into a glass jar or similar container.
  4. You can enjoy the solids that remain in the sieve as a snack, optionally frying them to crisp them further.
  5. Storage

  6. If you store the tallow at room temperature in an air-tight container it should keep for several months. You can also vacuum-pack portions and freeze them.
